I am the creator of the Railway Stories from Sodor series and in my own mind a true Pioneer in Scratchbuilding Thomas Models.

I am, the Thomas Modeller.

I am happy to offer tips on modelling and give advice via the Thomas Modeller Forums, which has recently opened, but, registration is limited.

I've always had a great interest in Railway Modelling, the amount of time, effort and detail that is put into modelling a railway is truly remarkable, and this is why i have become more interested in model railways now than i had before.

Ever since the young age, i have had a great interest in the Thomas The Tank Engine series, i much prefere the earlier series to the newer ones, as they are, in my own mind, not as reaslistic now as they were back in the 1980s and 1990s. The amount of characters that have appeared now is rediculous, although i favour some of them for their real-life counterparts, not all of them are ones i think the reverend awdry would have thought of, but, his works are ones i prefere to HIT Entertainment, as they are only given minor roles nowadays.

In my spare time, i like to go travelling, i have been to some lovely places up country from Devon, Wales and East Anglia being my two most favourite places, Wales for it's Narrow-Gauge Railway Heritage, and East Anglia for it's famous transport museums, steam railways and holiday resorts.

Remember me?
Tomthetrainfan (2 days ago)
thanks dan!
i was thinking of converting my earlier variation of a southern e2 from when they were released in 1970s by extending the tanks with plasticard, but if you could send me that, that would be great!
TheThomasModeller (2 days ago)
I have a magazine scan with an articale about Converting a Thomas E2 to a proper Extended Side-tank E2 0-6-0, once i find it, i will pm you the link, i hope this will help you with modelling a British Outline E2 model.

If you plan to model engines like Wilbert, Arthur or any other TV series character or RWS hybrid, i always work from the illustrations and tv pictures, also, if you come across any scale drawings of the models prototypes, it always helps to model from them too. I have used ready to run models for most of my projects, but for models like Stanley, Whiff and Billy, i used plasticard.

Dan, are you able to give me some hints in modeling some of the trains you have done?
