As Muslims our job is to convey the message of Islam; that's the same message of all the previous Prophets like Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Noah, Jesus & Muhammad (peace be upon them all). Our job is NOT to force people to become Muslims, Allah clearly mentions in the Quran "There is NO compulsion in Religion". Now, this is a list of videos of people who have decided to become Muslims after they found out the true beauty of that Religion.. All Praise be to Allah
We all complain and criticize most of the da'ees (the people who call others towards Islam) today worldwide about the way they're conveying the message of Islam right? We keep saying that they lack presentation skills they don't have charisma, they're not innovative, they're too serious, etc. Again I'm saying - most of the da'ees not all - so chill out :) So if you share the same concerns then here's a golden chance to be part of a project called 'Creative Da'wah' launched by Serving Islam Team - Hong Kong. Watch the promo of the campaign, and send to info@servingislamteam.com your innovative idea(s) and they'll film it, edit it then SHARE it with the rest of the world. What you can also do if you are good in filming and editing is to come up with an idea, film it, edit it and send it to them so they can share with the rest of the world. If the ideas are too good, there is a chance that they might be broadcasted on GuideUS.tv (the first Islamic channel in the US & Canada) and/or HudaTV (one of the leading English Islamic channels in the Middle East & Indian sub-continent). So hurry up, be a bit proactive; this might change the world and insha'allah will be a witness for us in the Hereafter, amen.
Street Da'wah* (an Arabic word that means 'convey') is one of the activities that we try to conduct on a monthly basis. What we do is, we select a location in the city of Hong Kong and we set a table/tent, then we fill it out with FREE introductory books about Islam. We distribute these books to the ones who are interested to know about Islam & Muslims, and the best part is, we engage in very healthy discussions. Watch these videos to get a better understanding on that particular project. Tell us your feedback.
Amal is an Arabic word which means HOPE, and that's exactly what this project aims to deliver. We want to send gift boxes that are full of new & used clothes, toys, accessories and daily necessities from Hong Kong to less fortunate places around the world. Our first shipment will go to the Philippines insha'allah (God Willing) and in future we'll be selecting different countries and places. The reason why we're launching that project is basically to follow the instructions of Allah (God Almighty) and our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH who said "Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, to orphans and to needy travelers." He also said "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." Hope you can assist us.
In January 2012, two of the most world renowned Muslim scholars have been invited by Serving Islam Team to deliver a series of lectures in HK - Dr. Bilal Philips (a former Christian) & Sheikh Husain Ye (a former Buddhist). Both scholars delivered a series of lectures that highlighted very important matters in our life, such as, "The Importance of Manners in Islam", "Shariah vs Man-made Laws", "Is Islam Compatible with Western Values?", "Why do we Stress?", "Why do people Suffer?" and finally, an interfaith dialogue with a Christian Pastor about "The Concept of Salvation in Christianity & Islam".
In April 2011 we were honored to invite Br. Fadel Soliman - Director of Bridges Foundation - to conduct a 4 day workshop in order to train the Muslims on how to present Islam as well as how to refute the misconceptions about Islam. In addition, Br. Fadel Soliman took the opportunity to launch the latest documentary "Jihad on Terrorism" at the University of Hong Kong [HKU] which is a must watch.
In July 2010, Serving Islam Team was honored to invite Dr. Muhammad Salah & Sheikh Yusuf Estes to Hong Kong in which they both delivered various lectures that were of great importance to the community as a whole. They spoke about "The Ideal Muslim Family", "Drugs & Suicide: an Islamic Perspective", "Does God Exist?" & "Why Did God Create Us?". Hope you find them useful.
Dr. Wagdy Goneim is one of the most popular Arab Muslim Scholars, we've been honored to invite him to HKG. During his stay, we've decided to record 30 episodes, approximately 12min each with 30 different topics with the intention to upload an episode everyday during the month of Ramadan in 2011. With Allah's grace, we've managed to sell those episodes to one of the pioneering Islamic Satellite Channels - AL NAS TV - and they were broadcasted to millions of viewers in the Middle East. According to our agreement, we only uploaded these 2 episodes, the rest you can search them on youtube.
One of the biggest events in Hong Kong that takes place every year is the Hong Kong Book Fair. The fair has been taking place for 20+ years. It was only in 2009 when an Islamic Organization called ICA joined as the sole representatives of Islam. In 2010 onwards, Serving Islam Team has joined hands with ICA & have been consistently presenting Islam in the fair but in a much larger scale. The fair is usually conducted in July for a full week; it requires enormous amount of planning, work, finance, volunteers, etc to make it look professional & to present Islam in the best possible means. Have a look at some of the preparations as well as some highlights from the previous fairs.
These are some activities that we've been doing or participating in in Hong Kong. They are all related to our overall mission of creating awareness about the beauty of Islam, Educating Muslims & non-Muslims and finally serving the less fortunate people around us. Watch the videos, and hope you find them inspiring.
