http://www.absolonrocks.com/Darkness Rising: The Tale of Derek Blackheart is a concept CD loosely based on the classic story The Portrait of Dorian Gray, with a heavy metal twist. In our tale a young kid named Derek Blackheart locks himself away and practices night and day on his guitar until he becomes the very best. Derek dreams of being in the biggest heavy metal band in the world and, when the Dark Master visits him one fateful night, his dream comes true.
All the Dark Master asks is for Derek to bring him young souls through his music. Derek eagerly accepts the offer and soon finds all his dreams of fame and fortune fulfilled He sells millions of albums and fills arenas world wide. His success knows no bounds as his soul becomes blacker and blacker. Derek does as he promised and brings countless thousands of young angry fans to the Dark Master.
Finally, one day at the height of his popularity, Derek has a moment of clarity and realizes that what he has done is wrong and evil. He wants to stop what he's doing and rectify what he has done, but he knows he can't just walk away from his deal with the Dark Master. In an attempt to escape, Derek takes his own life in his Beverly Hills mansion downing a handful of pills.
Alas, poor Derek finds out much to late that there is no escape from the Dark Master, not even in death.
