Philos71 is a video ministry: http://www.philos71.com/help_us.html
This is a re-post (HD'd, full length) "director's cut", as I'm making this channel a bit more single themed, whatever that meant.
No, no, folks...the guy in white is not supposed to be Jesus Christ...just an angel. He's not The Dude from The Big Lebowsky either (although he does bowl like nobody's bi'ness). This is a Christian short film I made a few years ago for the film festival circuit while living in Hawaii. It was entirely shot in Honolulu. The budget on this one was about $500.00. It was shot on the Panasonic DVX100A, with a Brevis 35mm lens adapter and edited on Sony Vegas 7 and Adobe After Effects.
The truths that I basically wanted to portray in this short film have to do with the reasons God allows evil and suffering in the world. Some of the material for the dialogue between the Angel and Jeremy were taken from lectures I was studying at the time from Dr. William Lane Craig, Dr. J.P. Moreland and Greg Koukl. For instance, the dialogue at the beach:
ANGEL: "You know, Jeremy, maybe your problem with evil is not an intellectual one, but an emotional one".
JEREMY: "What do you mean?"
ANGEL: "You just don't like a God that allows suffering in your world, or other people's worlds."
I actually showed this short to Dr. Craig and he liked it very much, writing the following review for the DVD cover that we had designed:
"The Atheist" is a creative, thoughtful piece of film-making. The questions the film raises haunt us all. It points to promising solutions without giving pat answers." That was pretty awesome, I was really stoked.
Disclaimer: I understand not all atheists become non believers due to the same reasons that the protagonist in this story does. This is a fictitious account of a fictitious person's life. Just a movie, folks. Enjoy it, and may it challenge you.
The music was done by The Weather Inside and Moby, both used with permission.
