On February 26, 2013, corrupt judge Patrick Dugan acquitted Josey of all charges. The city arranged for the crooked Dugan - who is married to a (possibly) equally crooked Philadelphia cop - to be Josey's judge, knowing than an acquittal would result. Dugan had received prior endorsements and campaign contributions (aka bribes) from the police union. Josey was ridiculously undercharged, as his assault of innocent parade-goer Aida Guzman is a felony under Pennsylvania case law. By default of the police labor agreement, Jonathan Josey will be rehired. In other words, Josey's "punishment" for violently assaulting an innocent, petite female will ultimately be a paid yearlong vacation! Such a scenario has played itself out for every Philadelphia cop who was previously caught on video feloniously assaulting a proven-innocent person. Jonathan Josey is the recipient of dozens of criminally covered-up, formal and informal citizen complaints. For instance, in September, 2011, according to businessman James Lewis and his two teenage sons, Josey robbed and viciously assaulted them. Josey then falsely arrested them to cover up his crimes. He also vandalized Lewis' car, causing over $30,000 worth of damage. In early April, 2013, all charges against the Lewis family were dropped because they hired a world famous attorney, Dennis Cogan, a few days prior. James Lewis is now pursuing civil litigation against Josey. In 2011 alone, the city government paid over $15 million to settle similar lawsuits against its crooked cops, all of whom still have their jobs. Note that Josey has already murdered at least one person in cold blood and is, according to a police-crime website, suspected in the killing of another.

The 6' 3", 265-pound Josey sucker punched the 5'1", 97-pound Guzman, apparently because he mistakenly thought that she had thrown water at police officers. Philadelphia's police union, the Fraternal Order of Police, fully defends this assaulting cop's actions, calling them justified. The FOP's president, John McNesby, even went as far as saying that Guzman is a criminal, apparently by default of being a Puerto Rican who was a assaulted by a cop. The FOP is even holding a fundraiser for Josey whilst he is suspended. Curiously, according to a police website, Josey is the recipient of many prior formal and informal citizen complaints, all of which were covered up. If history repeats itself, he will get back his job with full back pay. In other words, his "punishment" for violently assaulting an innocent woman will be a months long, paid vacation.
