  Whenever you have the same term on both sides (for instance 4(x-3)), you can just subtract that term from both sides to cancel it. Give it a try :)

  In this case you need to find a common denominator: (x+2)(x+6). You end up with:
  
  x(x+6) / [(x+2)(x+6)] + 4(x+2) / [(x+2)(x+6)] = 1
  
  Now since the denominators match we can combine the two fractions to get:
  
  [x(x+6)+4(x+2)] / [(x+2)(x+6)] = 1
