Emeritus College

The Emeritus College is an association of Emory University's retired faculty and administrative staff who have joined together to advance their intellectual interests, to serve the University, and to maintain social contact with University colleagues. Emeritus College's purposes are achieved through discussion, lectures, service projects, support for ongoing research and recognition of the achievements of its members. In addition to capturing content which will become a part of Woodruff Library's permanent collection of Emory's history, The Emeritus College's playlist chronicles the exchanges (discussions, lectures, seminars, etc.) emeriti make between the University, its community, and subsequently, the world. Natasha Trethewey

Natasha Trethewey is an Emory University professor and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet. In 2012 she was named Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington.

Emory Jazz Studies

The Jazz Studies Program at Emory is a comprehensive program with courses in improvisation, history, private instruction and large and small ensemble performance. Our mission is to educate students about the rich tradition of American jazz while providing insight into the creative process through performance and analysis.

Our program is comprised of artist-educators whose backgrounds provide a wealth of industry experience and expertise. Our jazz students are a mix of undergraduates and graduates spanning the liberal arts. Students have the opportunity to develop their performance skills through the study of classic repertory in our smaller ensembles while the big band focuses on essential traditional literature of the past and present. Michael C. Carlos Museum

The Carlos Museum has grown to become one of the Southeast's premier art museums with major collections of Classical, Ancient Egyptian, Near Eastern, Ancient American, African, and Asian art, as well as a collection of works on paper from the Renaissance to the present.
