Don't even think about prohibiting tobacco, because some 25% of us enjoy it. But alcohol and tobacco kill many times more people than the drugs that are currently illegal! It is time to end the prohibition, and control the distribution of drugs as we do with alcohol and tobacco. The violent cartels would be out of business, our prison population would be reduced to those who harm others, and our deficit would be significantly reduced.

Drug users have been convenient scape goats ever since President Nixon discovered them. They are a small percentage of the citizenry; many are not wealthy enough to obtain their drugs legally, or to protect themselves with high priced attorneys. Prohibiting alcohol did not work because alcohol users are a large percentage of the population.

Not trying to say drugs are good legalize them all so we can get fucked up no not at all. Drugs are bad and we need to deal with the issue in a different matter people will use i doubt anyone that chooses not to use these aweful drugs will bc they are legal. But if we taxed drugs and saved the money from busting user and dealers and all the jail funds that cost we put the users in jail and the dealers well they are out of the picture the government runs it now and gives a age restriction and lowers the cost which will lower the demand for money for the use of the hard drugs.Then for those who do make that choice we offer rehab with the money they make off it and we give all kids equal education with this money and use it in beter drug programs to educate our kids so they dont make that fatal choice to use drugs !!

The Costly War on Drugs has done much more harm than good! It has broken up many famiies; it has loaded our prisons with people who have harmed only themselves; it has created a black market that causes world wide death and destruction; it is enforced with racial bias; it has not significantly reduced drug use. PROHIBITIONS OF VICTIMLESS CRIMES HAVE NEVER WORKED, AND NEVER WILL! Addiction is a public health problem, and should have no place in the criminal justice system.

It started in the 1930's was propelled even farther in 1970's by the Nixon Administration. It has to end here, it is time we stopped arresting thousands and thousands of present and future Americans for a victimless "crime". The only thing criminal about it is the fact that they call it a crime.

This is no laughing matter President Obama, Senate, and House. It's time we turn over many years of racially motivated legislation. It's time we turn over something that is rapidly increasing or prison population. It's also sucking money that could be far better spent. Many deaths in other countries and our own can be prevented by the legalization of Marijuana. We the American people hardly consider it a joke!
