For round 2 of Redline Time Attack 2009, The event was held at Willow Springs on the big track. It was my first time driving on the track which came to some disadvantage but i became familiar very quickly.

The car received new tires, Dunlop Z1 Starspec. 195/55/15 and 225/50/16. The tires felt very nice and was easily controllable. Only thing was the sidewalls are a little bit soft. I added 15mm spacer to the front to compensate for the narrowness, but paid for it with rubbing fender.

During the last practice session, the car lost all power before turn 6. A following car said, "a huge fireball shot out about 2 feet. i did not know NA engines could do that". For about 20 seconds, the car felt like it was in limp mode. When in fact, it was just rolling its way down and the transmission moving the engine was the only thing keeping it alive. After some diagnosis, i determined i would check the MAF sensor. Turns out that was the problem after all. The MAF sensor had fallen out of the intake piping and had to be secured on with zipties.

My fastest time was taken at the last lap of the first timed session. Track temperatures of the 2nd session made it tough for tires to hold their grip.

Excellent day, I love this track now.
