I'll tell you what happened to hip-hop music. Once the white devil chairmen of the record companies realized hip-hop was here to stay, they quickly devised ploys to reap huge profits, exploiting talentless rappers such as Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, T.I., Timbaland, Akon, among other now famous figures and slowly killed rap music. The change was so gradual, 90% of the public didn't notice the shift from politically charged lyricism and dope beats to just plain awful garbage. So flash forward to 2010, decent rappers are nearly completely unknown and the record labels continuosly pour out filth, with less and less effort each time, and the public none the wiser. Hopefully some messiah will come along and verbally massacre all these wack MC's, thus reviving the real hip-hop. But for now, we can reminisce on the golden age of hip-hop and look back on the few decades of which the genre will probably never relive.
