Check out Part 2 -- http://www.youtub...
These next couple of installments will give you a decent idea of what Im really aiming for with the Chronicles. There are literally like 50 different Sabu comps right. I didnt want to just make a standard Sabu comp in a match to match presentation.
With this series I want to include any all relevant and pertinent footage to give people a broader scope or perspective. This includes pre-match footage, promos, storyline segments, really just anything I feel would be cool to add, sometimes it wont even be related to that specific Sabu match, but the goal will be to give you a broader view of what was going on in that particular time because Sabu was involved in so many great storylines and wrestled against a variety of legend..which is why is career is indeed worth covering . I want this to almost be documentary like.
Intro: Sabu briefly discusses how he got to FMW, and reflects on the many barbed wire matches he participated in that promotion. Then there is a little FMW intro that serves as a prelude to the 1992 feud with Atsushi Onita.
Match: The Sheik & Sabu vs Horace Boulder & Mark Starr (Sabus very first match in Japan! Tag Team Tournament) Rare Handheld & Clipped Commercial tape version
Date: 11/20/1991
Setting: FMW Promotion (Japan)
Description: This installment covers a portion of Sabus first tour in Japan. Sabu & his uncle the Sheik entered FMW in November of 91 and participated in the promotions first Tag Team Tournament.
The Sheik had previously been absent from Japan for ten years. This couldnt have worked out any better for Sabu because the Japanese crowds, having not seen the Sheik in so long went absolutely nuts for the duo.
They were both immediately incredibly over, and Sabu gained instant credibility the moment he stepped in Japan. It did not take long for the two to rise as FMWs top heels. They had their first confrontation with Atsushi Onita in early December; the result would be a brutal year and a half long feud.
These early matches were not very long, but the significance called for the handheld & commercial versions. Thats just how I roll fa sho. Horace Boulder & Mark Starr would go on to wrestle in WCW in the mid to late 90s. Boulder actually stuck around in FMW for the year 1992 and would join the Sheik Army, a heel stable that feuded with Onita, Goto and company. Enjoy.
