Walkin' After Midnight written by Alan Block and Donn Hecht performed by Patsy Cline with Owen Bradley, Grady Martin, and Hank Garland live from, possibly, Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts (CBS-TV), 28 January 1957*
In January 1957, Cline was invited to perform a song on the CBS television program hosted by Arthur Godfrey entitled, Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts. The formula for the show was simple enough. "Scouts" brought on their discoveries to a converted New York theater to perform before a live studio audience. Most of these "discoveries" were in fact struggling professionals looking for a break, and so the quality of the talent was quite high. At the program's conclusion, the studio audience selected the winner by way of an applause meter.
Cline's scout, actually her mother Hilda Hensley, presented Patsy to sing one of her recent recordings (and upcoming Decca release), "Walkin' After Midnight." Originally, Patsy intended to performed the flip side, "A Poor Man's Roses (Or a Rich Man's Gold)," but the producers of the show preferred "Walkin' After Midnight". She performed the song during the 8:30 slot of the program. The applause meter on the show had a technical difficulty and froze during her performance due to the excessive amount of applause from the audience. Because of the great amount of applause, Cline won first place in the show that night.
In relation to this clip, here is the problem. For years, I have always associtaed the above mentioned event with this clip. However, this may not be the case.
* There are two known aircheck recordings of Pasty singing "WAM" the Arthur Godrey Show. One is from the 21 January 1957 "Talent Scout" broadcast with the preperformance interview with Hilda Hensley. Another dates from 26 April 1957 and comes at the end of the show. See, Patsy Cline, during the winter and early spring of '57 was one of his "Little Godfreys." I was always under the impression this video clip dated from the week after she actually won the show, 28 January 1957. However, there is some question because of the unusual backing she gets here, compared to what would have been customary on the show - CBS's studio orchestra led by, either, Bert Farber or Will Roland.

Leavin' On Your Mind written by Wayne Walker performed by Patsy Cline live on The Pet Milk Grand Ole Opry, 18 February 1963
Introduced by T. Tommy Cutrer, she would die just 15 days after this, her last television appearance. And, in case you are wondering, the album that Ol' T. is holding is Starday 215 - Stringbean and His Banjo Salutes Uncle Dave Macon.
