Fictional and edited scene of an execution of a woman in South Korea.
On 30 December 1997, 23 people (18 men and five women) were hanged in prisons in the capital, Seoul, and the cities of Taegu, Pusan, Taejon and Kwangju.
The Korea Times said 21 of the 23 had been convicted of murder and other felonies and 2 of rape and robbery.
These were the last executions in South Korea

Contrary to popular opinion women convicted of witchcraft in England were hanged rather than burnt at the stake as the crime was a felony. Matthew Hopkins was the self styled Witchfinder General and was very active in East Anglia in the two year period from 1645 to 1647. His activities led to the executions of a large number of innocent women. He received £1 per victim and made a lot of money from this persecution.
