Hi John, just stopping by to see what video treasures you've collected here. Wow, the video of "Brian Wilson Till i Die (Original Mix)" is poignantly beautiful, I love it! Your video collection is very, very cool!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi John. Have you seen the film Solaris-both the cult Russian version and the latest with George Clooney. This is a good example of how Hollywood can get it right. Clooney said after it's release, it didn't make a big impact with the public like the usual Hollywood because it was too deep. But his team were pleased with it. I think they know it'll have a longer-lasting appeal.

About sequels, sometimes they're brilliant; sometimes they're a bad idea. They only really work where the theme came from a series, like Star Trek, or was a saga to begin with. With something like, say, Robinson Cruesoe, your mind will always be set in the thought everything was wrapped up in the first film. That's why the writers get in such a fix when they try to dig up old lines and try to make them work as before, when they've served their purpose. Someone ought to tell 'em at Hollywood!

A Hollywood remake..we musn't talk about that too much. It'll get the buffs thinking and then they'll go ahead and make one :( When you look back at past decades, they're littered with remakes. This is true of the music world too. Robinson Cruesoe, Mutiny on the Bounty and Moby Dick have a few, about every fifteen years or so. Mutiny had a good remake in '85 with Mel Gibson but Hollywood's ability today could be the reason for the flops, not the idea of doing remakes. As for the special effects, using models in the seventies made them more realistic. Computerised starships that stretch and other effects we can almost do on our PCs just dont cut it do they. Spending all the money on effects patronises us if we think they don't know when to use them.

Hi John and thanks for the friend invite. It's been great tonight to see that clip from Welcome Home Jonny Bristol. Good effect to have his memories coloured up for a few frames like that. They don't do odd things like that anymore, to accentuate something. Hollywood wouldn't be able to do it really. It's the sort of thing you might see in a continental film. But a good ameteur would. Often, it's the dedicated ameteur who can do better.

I grew up in the surf culture in Southern California...We didn't take too kindly to The Beatles because they were knocking the BB's off the top of the charts. I've never liked them with the exception of John Lennon. I think it was the Midwest and East coast audiences with the little girls screaming and passing out that turned me off. "Oh, Paul! I love you!" GAG! Plus, much of their stuff was hoaky back then ex:: "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" <= LMAO!. We all came around after awhile, though. A lot of the later Beatles stuff (stolen from the BB's) brings back great memories...but still, they were not anywhere near the BB's, or even some of the other British groups that followed. (The Who) for one.
