A channel for "Fandels"

I love Baroque music in general

and the music of Handel in particular.

I'm a full-fledged "Fandel."

Fandel: a devotee of the music of Handel and Baroque music in general.

Most Fandels describe their passion for Handel as an obsession, or a even a compulsion. Fandels usually have had a "conversion" experience, the moment at which they first come under the spell of Handel. After this Fandel conversion, there is always the desire to inhale and take in more and more Handel.

Fandelize: the act of evangelizing the music of Handel in hopes of converting new Fandels.

Through my Baroque-themed channel and Baroque "music videos" combining great music and art with information about the selection, I'm hoping to Fandelize the music of Handel.

There's usually an educational/didactic component to my videos, from the content of the videos themselves to a wealth of information about a video, about Handel, his works, and/or the performers, that you will discover by viewing the complete description of the video.

These often include links for further research or even to the CDs themselves for purchasing. Information about the artists whose work is featured can also be found here.

I use iMovie on a Mac to create my videos. I had no prior experience with this software, so I was literally learning the program as I made these. Actually, I'm continually learning more about what I can and cannot do with iMovie.

The time I spend making these videos is rewarded with the knowledge that I could be introducing others to this great music and Fandelizing a few Fandel converts in the process.

I have discovered Handel to be a great dramatic composer, seen most clearly in his operas, and I am always happy to introduce others to the joys of Handel.

Fandels are fierce! May the Fandelizing begin.

A note about the spelling of his name: 


The multiple spellings of Handel's name represent his cosmopolitan stature in 18th century Europe.  He was born in Germany in 1685 Georg Friedrich Händel.  In Italy he was "Giorgio Federico Hendel," and in France he was "Haendel."

Utlimately, he really made a name for himself as a composer of Italian opera in England.  There he went by George Frideric Handel. 

Handel loved England so much that it would become his home, and he successfully petitioned the House of Lords to become a British citizen in February 1727. 

Once Handel moved to England he signed his name "George Frideric Handel."  For that reason, I prefer to use the anglicized spelling of his name.
