Han Dynasty armors were usually brushed with anti-corrosive black paint to avoid rust. For the color of their uniforms, early W. Han continued the tradition of Qin, which they dressed in black with leather armors. By the middle of W. Han, after Emperor Wu's reform, all armors were made out of iron or steel, weapon making transitioned from all iron to all steel, and the uniform's color changed from black to red. By the time of E. Han, the clothing again changed from red to yellow color.
