I was introduced to this amazing instrument the same way many people in my generation were...through the 1998 classic, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". Since getting my first Ocarina back in 1999, I've continued to improve my skills and I'm happy to share my playing with you today! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the music! - David

~Frequently Asked Questions~
Q: It the ocarina hard to play?
A: It's actually one of the easiest instruments to play.
Q: How many Ocarinas do you have?
A: Around 90 or so.
Q: How do you learn your music?
A: I started out playing by ear, but I've been using sheet music more often. No, I don't use (or make) tabs.
Q: Where do you find your sheet music:
A: It always starts with a quick search on google. If that doesn't yield results, I'll track down a midi and convert it into sheet music using the Finale notation software. Finally, if no sheet music exists, I will A) transcribe it by ear or 2) learn it completely by ear.
Q: Where did you get your Zelda Ocarina?
A: It's made by a man named Spencer Register, and he sells them one at a time on EBAY. To find out when the next will be available, visit http://spencersocarinas.com
Q: What kind of Ocarina is your Zelda Replica?
A: It's a 12-hole "Alto C" Transverse. You can find a very similar ocarina at http://songbirdocarina.com. Check out the Sweet Potato section.
Q: What software/hardware do you use for videos?
A: I started off with nothing more than a Cybershot T-10 still camera, but this is what I use now:
~ Hardware ~
Macbook
Kodak Playtouch HD camera
Behringer Xenyx 1622 Mixer
Samson C01 Studio Condenser Mic
Shure SM57 Mic
Behringer UCA200 USB Interface
~ Software ~
Final Cut Express (Multiple video layers)
iMovie 6 (Simple Edits)
Garageband '06
Q: Why won't you answer my message/email?
A: Unfortunately, I get several dozen's of messages and emails each week, and I don't have time to answer them all. I'll do my best to get back to you when I can, but I can't say if/when that will happen. I will say that the persistent people usually get answers :)
