I am 19, born a Jew, proud to be one in a cultural sense, but I am a full blown atheist at the same time. I don't believe in religion at all, nor do I think that there is some mystical all powerful being out there watching over me and loving me.
I can be vulgar when I speak sometimes, especially on religion and more specifically Islam, but I don't actually hate anyone, I just really don't like people who provide a defense for insane beliefs because they are too scared to disown them or too scared to seem like they are criticizing them.
In terms of political issues:
I am pro gay marriage-
I am not gay but I believe love is the most natural thing in the world and that to simplify it by making it about how people express it physically is a mockery of the word.
I am pro choice:
I am not comfortable with the fact that about 25% of all pregnancies in the US are aborted, which is over 3000 a day, however I am also uncomfortable with telling a woman that she has no authority over her body especially if she has been assaulted/abused. I also think it may even benefit the society from time to time. For example, I think it's a lot better if a teenage girl gets an abortion, gets back on her feet then has kids later in life rather than have her and her child's life fucked up at the same time.
I support the decriminalization/legalization of every drug conceivable:
Making drugs illegal and jailing people for using them is an affront to civil liberties. 250,000 of the approximately 2.3 million people in prison are there for NON VIOLENT drug offenses. It's an insult to humanity and taxpayers.
I support gun rights:
As George Mason said, "To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way of enslaving them."
An armed society is a free one. Both Stalin and Hitler disarmed their people before taking over. I believe people should be allowed to have guns both for scaring the government and for self defense. However, I am a strong believer in gun regulations. Guns and other weapons are just that, WEAPONS, not merchandise or toys. If you are irresponsible and think guns are something to play with, you DO NOT, have the right to own one.
A Zionist by conviction, I will always support Israel's right to exist as well as its right to defend itself, however they are subject to the same criticism as any other nation. I support a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians and think Israel must stop building settlements.
I believe that the UN Human Rights Council is a blatant affront to the meaning of human rights. Every chance they get they pass resolutions condemning Israel in advance of any investigation and are too cowardly to condemn the Islamist lead genocide in the Sudan. The council is a disgrace to humanity and every one of its members should be tried for enabling crimes against humanity.
I was born in America, my roots go back to Soviet Russia, this is my country. The U.S. has and continues to do its share of horror around the world and too its own people but I'll take the US over Saudi Arabia or Russia any day. I get tired of people who attack America because it is all they know and has become popular under "Dubya". People don't know how much better it is here than other nations, and yes this government (any, neo-con or neo-liberal) is always trying to screw you but I'd rather fight for freedom here than not have the opportunity elsewhere.
