Found a great lp of Charley Lincolns early recordings on a recent record buying trip to Brighton. This song, Country Breakdown, stood out when listening to the lp as he sings most of the other songs in more of a bass register. Really like the lyrics of this one too. Not the most adventurous guitar work but a great song. Originally Charley Hicks (not sure why the surname change to Lincoln) he's the brother of the perhaps more well known Barbecue Bob. He was taught to play by Savannah Weaver, Curly Weavers mum. This song was recorded in Atlanta Ga, Nov 4, 1927. The lp is one of the Matchbox Bluesmaster Series. I've got 3 from the series now and I can tell you they're a great purchase if you see 'em. Inexpensive too! Enjoy (less info)
