Never have so few companies controlled so much of the music played on the radio and for sale at retail stores. At the same time, there are more bands and more ways to discover their music than ever. Music seems to have split in two - the homogenous corporate product that is spoonfed to consumers and the diverse independent music that finds devoted fans online and at clubs across the country.

BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES tells the story of American music at this precarious moment. Filmmakers Andrew Shapter and Joel Rasmussen traveled the country, hoping to understand why mainstream music seems so packaged and repetitive, and whether corporations really had the power to silence musical innovation. The answers they found on this journey--ultimately, the promise that the future holds--are what makes BEFORE THE MUSIC DIES both riveting and exhilarating.

This is a joke. Look...I agree with you that corporate music is evil. Here is something to ponder though. Why point the finger at a corporation (by nature a profit machine) instead of at ourselves. WE continue to purchase this garbage. WE react to the advertising and purchase their partners products. WE are the ones that ultimately have created this issue and continue to fund it. I can't rally in protest against a corporate environment where the companies line up to accept the billions of dollars a year that we are offering them. Let's face it...the average American citizen has abhorable music taste if any at all. As long as we are willign to shell out the dough for a pressed piece of cow dung this will continue to be a plague we are forced to deal with.

It is so sad to see how the corporations have corrupted music.I think
that almost everyone out there today is commercialized and has no meaning.Excuse my french but it is all about the tits and ass.I can't wait to see the whole movie.I live a place where all they talk about and listen to is that fake crap.Thank you for putting this up.
