The number one weapon used in murder is and always has been "hands." What would you suggest? Cut off people's hands? Non-biological weapons were created before mankind was even on this planet. The first weapon that trumped a fist was a rock or stick. Those with better weapons survive. While the ideal of a world without weapons is admirable, it is also naive. Idealism is just that, idealism, not reality. There will always be people who are willing to hurt others in order to get what they want.

The Second Amendment is a provision that provides a militia and ultimately the right to revolt against a corrupt government. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, I take this very seriously. I would be interested to see the statistics you cited. Insulting the intelligence of a groups' base is the first sign of a weak argument. It's often used by children and is a sin in higher learning environs.
