To start, there are no shortcuts on learning 3d modeling and animation, and it gets harder if you look at it as a bunch of commands to learn, as a step by step thing. You must try to understand and know your tools first, what they do and try to stablish a logic connection between the tool and the desired effect or result you´re looking for. The more you get to know your tools and use them, the more your skills will grow and show up. There are literaly thousands of ways to create any particular object, but you are the one to choose which way is faster and more effective for your requirements.

hey man how long did it take to make the whole robot magnet animation?? i want to know cuz i have to do a project similar in my first two weeks of 3DSmax, i have my first 3 class days and it a looooooooooot of commands and steps.. do you know where can i find nice and easy tutorials??
