I believe that it is not unpatriotic to question the policies of one's government; rather that it is in fact a responsible citizen who cares for her country who does so. It is not unpatriotic, or treasonous, to question the policies/ actions of one's government, when that government engages in illegal, undeclared, pre-emptive war; supports injustices; and supports the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. I am in good company in this belief; it is also held by many brave Israeli citizens, Israeli journalists, Jewish human rights groups around the world, and brave authors, scholars and academics of Jewish heritage. I call them brave, for their opinions are not popular in their own countries. And for their views, and for taking stands against the atrocities committed by Israel with U.S. aid, they have put themselves at risk from both personal attack as well as bodily harm. For just as it is not anti-Semitism to criticize the policies of Israel's government/ military, so too is it not unpatriotic to call into question, and to care for, the character of one's country, even when that country is the United States. For what we support abroad may one day be supported at home. And to keep the image of our country untarnished, no matter its actions, is to not care about our country, or its character, at all.
If you are anti-semitic, or "against" Jewish persons, please do not "friend" me; I am not anti-Jewish, nor am I anti-semitic.
