Hi Euchre! Thank you for giving our irreverent comedy about relationships and love some of your kind attention. We hope "Maggie Blows Joy" brought you some happiness to eat and some joy to blow. That we gave the thinking man something witty to laugh at is high praise indeed!

:-D

Yes, they use your IP for that - but they only guess based on where the server is that provides your IP address. My ISP's nearest server for my IP has been in 2 places since I signed up, and was about 15 and 45 miles away in completely different towns. Any of those supposedly location targeted ads was off by that much. The larger the city you are in, or the more distance between you and the next substantial city, the more likely the server will be quite near you and thus be correct.

I got a real kick out of one of those 'location sensitive' ads on a page from a search I did. The little ad bar said "Look for used Ferraris in (small semi-rural town)". Unless Ferrari started making pickup trucks for less than $45,000 I don't think anyone in that town was going to have one used to sell me.

This is a response to your IP address vid:

But I was recently surfing and on the sidebar it said that there were singles in my city, and it was correctly my city. Wouldn't they need an IP address for that?

Hiya SirEuchre!!! Thanks for visiting my "Virgin Stand-Up". I think your comment is spot on! The performance feels a bit rushed to me too. I have another stand-up video: "Stand-Up II: America the Beautiful" (its on my channel, but not the front page)... I'm happy with it too, especially the songs... though the energy of the audience was low for that performance, I was second to the last in the line-up (these things matter believe it or not). I was planning on doing more stand-up, but the venue I was enjoying closed down. I like stand-up, but love improv way more, so that is where my focus lies. I would get up and do more should an irresistible opportunity present itself... ;-)

"EidolonTLP in 08?"

I think he wants to sustain the illusion that Eidolon is a self-sufficient, sophisticated A.I. and not a bot or avatar. We frankly don't know how sophisticated Eidolon's software is for sure, but from his last video it's clear it's not quite as sophisticated as he once tried to appear. Many of the mispronunciations were telling. If an A.I. had been observing human communications for so long (25+ years) you'd expect it to have a better database of pronunciations.

I think keeping the illusion going at some level keeps the fun in it, and I can certainly understand that. There are after all still people that believe E. T. secretly used a real alien. How hard would it be for people to believe there is an A.I. that can fully parse a YouTube comment and reply?
