Time and distance did not allow it. Students reacted to the threat, which was 3-5 feet from them. You can do transitional shooting from holster to full extension, though with a spontaneous response, movement off line takes precedence. This drill also supposes that a two-handed grip may not be possible, which Aaron covered in the beginning skill explanation. One + rounds from the hip is always going to be faster than fighting to a close tuck or full extension before firing.
