Based on the fundamentals of providing a platform for collaboration and informed dialogue, one mechanism for the sharing of technical information is the conferences of SAE.

Annually, SAE hosts more than 25 technical conferences covering all aspects of technology related to design, manufacture, and total life cycle for the mobility industries. Its three premiere events include SAE World Congress, SAE Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress & Exhibition and the bi-annual SAE AeroTech Congress & Exhibition. From these meetings come the technical papers of SAE.

Prospective paper authors from industry, government, and academia are invited to submit abstracts in response to the call for papers for each event. Beginning with its first general Meeting in 1906, SAE International published its first technical paper. Today this collection consists of more than 73,000 individual papers with approximately 2,600 new documents published each year contributing to its status as the mobility industry's preeminent resource for advancing mobility engineering worldwide.
