I play mostly metal and metalcore music, however I do play specific rock music as well.
History:
I first started playing guitar about 5 years ago, when I grew interested in the instrument during year 7. At the time I was completely unserious and just got some basic advice from friends.
I got my first electric guitar (Fender Squire Bullet Strat) in 2005 but did not play very often, learning simplistic songs and chords when I did.
From then on I was on and off, and for at one to two years I completely stopped playing.
During late year 9 (2007) I started listening to more modern, faster and heavier music, and my interest in playing electric guitar was sparked again.
From then on I have gradually progressed to today. It has only been in last 2 years that I have been getting more serious about music, and playing guitar on a regular basis.
I used to use the first tab I found on Ultimateguitar.com, but I have realised that most tabs are at least partially incorrect; that is, it has been tabbed by a fan, not the actual writer.
I have since purchased Guitar Pro 5, and begun using my ears to make changes and alterations to even the best of tabs, striving for accuracy.
In 2009 I got my first real guitar: my ESP Mh-1000. This is the best guitar I played for my purposes to this day, and It will be in most or all of my covers. I found that owning a fairly expensive guitar encourages you to practice and play more frequently.

Influences:
Almost everything I hear I will consider - I don't have one simple influence. I'd have to say that August Burns Red, The Ghost Inside, Killswitch Engage and Parkway Drive have been my main influences and really broadened my musical outlook, which I think is fantastic :)
