HD Railfanning In Our Nation's Capitol

About This Channel:
I created this page for myself and other train and railroad enthusiasts (otherwise known as railfans).
My history with trains:
I was a train enthusiast or "railfan" ever since the age of 5. That's when I saw my first fright which was a CSX local with two Chessie GP40 locomotives on the point rolling down the middle of East Street in Frederick MD. The line is gone now, replaced by the MTA MARC branch that runs into town from the CSX Old Main. However, ever since I saw that train, I was hooked, and my railfanning days began.
I am glad to live in the DC area and the region is one of the best places (outside of Chicago and LA) to film and photograph trains. The region is steeped in railroading history and because of that there is a good variety of trains and lines here for any train enthusiast to enjoy, including some of the oldest in the nation (The old B&O Washington Branch now referred to as the CSXT Capitol and Metropolitan Subdivisions).

And yes, since I live in DC (when I get lazy), the Metro too. Why not? We have thee best subway system in the world (minus the few kinks that have occurred in the last decade of corse).

A train enthusiast is someone who takes pictures and video of trains (hence the word railfan). IT IS A HOBBY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER HOBBY! It is an enjoyable and often rewarding pastime often shared by one or more people on their days off who just want to head out to the tracks for an hour or so of train watching. RAILFANS ARE NEITHER FOAMERS NOR TERRORISTS!!!!!!
I felt that I needed to explain that because of the stories I've heard by other railfans and my own personal experiences dealing with haters and people who STILL don't know what railfanning or "train watching" is.
