Yuriko Oyama was born in Osaka, Japan.
Yuriko's father was a professional criminal and the creator of the process by which adamantium can be bonded to living bones. When, by a series of events, her father was shamed and killed, she decided to find and destroy everything her father worked for, thus restoring her family's honor. She found Wolverine via Weapons X, and wanted to destroy him as a part of her "cleansing" of her family.
Going to the villain "Spiral" and paying him to genetically enhance her and bond her skeleton with the adamantium, she became Lady Deathstrike. Now, she is found working for Weapons X looking for the opportunity to kill Wolverine for her family's honor, though she gives up the plan to kill him in favor of getting out of a difficult situation.
