Growing up almost every teacher I had discouraged me from being myself. They said I needed to talk less, do as I am told, and most importantly be complaint to what they said. I'm going to let you in on a little secret; this is the receipt for FAILURE! This article is going to teach you what I unlearn to be successful in life.
To be successful in school you have to succeed in many areas of learning. You have to have a good memory, you have to not talk out of turn, you have to behave like everyone else, and most important you better not be stubborn and hard headed.
I just couldn't handle teachers. Teachers definitely could not handle me. I believed in myself too much. I would rarely care about what the teachers told me about success. This does not mean I blatantly disrespected teachers. I would do my work and move on. It is myself belief that ultimately make me a successful person.
The biggest lesson that school does not teach student is how the world "actually" works. Success favors the bold. Success follows those who make a plan and do it. Success comes from self-belief matched with the courage to pursue what you want.
It's important to never forget that success leaves clues! Successful people have completely different habits of those who are average or below performers. We all need to remember that success in school does not translate into success in the real world.
How do you apply the traits of unsuccessful students to real world success? It says with your belief system. Successful people believe in themselves and their ability to accomplish what they want. They believe that they have what it takes to reach their goal. Successful students do as they are told. They show up on time, they don't talk out of turn. They NEVER go against the teacher even if they are wrong. They accept the status quo.
Here is my basic advice: Follow your goals with accuracy and belief that you will achieve them. Don't allow people (like teachers) to tell you what is right and that you are wrong. You can have anything you want if you are willing to learn and do what it takes.
