Chicago native who has spent most of my life being categorized by my height and weight and supposed model-like features that I became trapped by hegemonic standards of beauty that would require I celebrate some features and not others. Among these not-so-celebrated features is my natural hair texture. Thus, I've maintained long, straight, "flowy" relaxed hair, and even with it being beautiful even in my eyes, I just never felt like I was embracing all of me.

On July 2, 2008, after cutting off the final straight tips of what used to be long, typical, relaxed hair, I was introduced to this Other Me! I've been fascinated by the unpredictable patterns in my curl and kink pattern... and I'm thirsty for MORE!

I come to YouTube as not only a browser, but now as a poster as well, hoping to share with other women ways for us to reclaim our true beauty and freak our styles in ways that are still SO fabulous, and so much more flavorful than ever before. I look forward to your comments and feedback and hope we can learn from one another through our individual and collective hair journeys! :)

thanks 12barsoul!

waterseveon1 -- i havent tried that yet. i just use Cantu Shea butter leave in, coconut oil, a spritz bottle (with water, holding spray, mousse, and leave in mixed in), and gel for setting it. HAHA... ok, maybe that is more than "just". have you tried Lock N Twist?
