The Independent Hungarian Media Translation Service (IHMTS) exists to provide accurate translations of YouTube videos that concern contemporary and relevant Hungarian news stories.

We endeavour to do two things:
1. Translate videos whose YouTube links are sent to us by you.
2. Make our translations as accurate as possible.

Please note that we are not party-political, we merely work on the videos that are sent to us; neither are we a commercial enterprise.

Both of us are fully employed in other fields, so please do not feel free to pester us demanding translations. Simply send us a YouTube message with the video you would like to see. If we can we will translate it: but there are no guarantees.

Ensure that the message you send has the relevant hyperlink as its subject line, and a brief explanation of why you think it warrants translation in the message body. Email not adhering to this format will simply be ignored. Sorry!

Disclaimer:
The IHMTS is an entirely non-revenue and non-commercial service. Every effort has been made to ensure that videos here produced comply with the ammendation of the Hungarian Copyright Act LXXXVI (1999), namely the transposition of EU Directive 2001/29/EC.

Specifically the exemption granted by Article 37 (1) of the Hungarian Act, granting the dissemination of contemporary news events, justified under informatory purposes. Furthermore, in line with the later requirement of Act CII 2004: source acknowledgment is always made in the videos description.

IHMTS Sorry but we don't accept Friend invites as that might be seen to call impartiality into question. But of course there are no restrictions on who can subscribe. (1 week ago)

IHMTS Please people, can you remember to rate the videos according to the quality of the translation! And NOT whether you agree or disagree with the views expressed: that's something we have no control over... and you might not be aware of them at all were it not for the IHMTS. (1 week ago)

Channel Comments (7)
IHMTS (4 days ago)
The previous comment has been permitted only because it illustrates three qualities which go against the principles of the IHMTS. It reads, in English:

"The bit at the start of the video about 'mob violence' should be cut out, because this plainly did not happen. That's just a simple Zionist distortion."

First, it tacitly advocates non-transparency.
The channel page of the IHTMS is completely in English, even though for obvious reasons there are very good arguments for a lot of it to be in Hungarian. However, this would result in the possibility of the channel's target audience having a lack of certainty about the motives and/or content of IHMTS material: by not being able to verify it for themselves.
This is unacceptable. All comments MUST be made in the ENGLISH language ONLY: without exception. If your grammar or spelling is bad but your tone is still civil and your point can be understood: then we will permit your comment. You need not worry on that score.

Second, it advocates editing.
Under no circumstances, with the possible very rare exception of shortening for the purposes of the YouTube time limit, are IHMTS videos edited. There are more than enough videos on YouTube already that seek to portray a particular agenda through the use editing.
The IHMTS will never do this. The promotion of an opinion is not our objective, the promotion of information - from which people can then make up their own minds - is.

Third, to put it delicately, it seeks to engage in extremist antagonism.
As previously stated the internet is already replete with more than enough opportunities for people who wish to make these kinds of opinions known as frequently and as loudly as possible. The IHMTS is NOT and will never be yet another place for the expression of such views.
Viewers who wish to make their views known by submitting unaltered videos for translation, or suggesting ways in which translation may be improved are however always welcome.

This lengthy comment has been made by us to make the underlying and chief motive of the IHMTS perfectly clear and beyond doubt. What we value more than anything is: TRUST.

Mistrust of information, authority, and each other is endemic in Hungary. And it is also symptomatic internationally about information coming out of Hungary. The IHTMS was brought into being to attempt to rectify this. We therefore take the greatest care to ensure that anything that might bring viewers to question the veracity or legitimacy of the material we bring to them is assiduously avoided.

Please note: In future such comments will not be approved again.

A tömegverekedéses részt ki kellene vágni az elejéből, mert ilyenről szó sincs. Az csak egyszerű cionista ferdités...

Great idea! Foreigners can access the truth, not just the crying of viktoria mohácsi! I think the comments shlould be allowed. Great work, dont give it up!

That's a very difficult question to answer while staying non-partisan. Comments are the best way for people to learn from their visitors, and they're also a big driver of traffic to a channel. So while we permit them here (moderated) not allowing them on the videos themselves is shooting ourselves in the foot a little.

Unfortunately when it comes to Hungary, such comments tend to be dominated by people who represent either extreme of the political spectrum, and give the impression that they represent the consensus solely by shouting the loudest. What we wanted the IHMTS to be is a place for the dissemination of little known, but reliable, information; not yet another forum for the expression of deliberately abrasive views.

Great channel but one question, why don't you allow comments on your individual videos?
