Watched this after school while growing up; it gave me so much respect for anyone who works food, especially the vastly under-appreciated kitchen staff in most restaurants.

This is still the template for what a cooking show should be. It is elegant and beautiful, but still focused on the food. Every element was perfect. I grew up on this and it has certainly not been replaced by the personality- and lifestyle-oriented shows on Food TV.

Dude, I would watch this from my dorm room at the CIA, it was the inaugural season. Warren Le Ruth, Great Chefs of New Orleans-Jeremiah Tower, Mark Miller, Robert Del Grande, Dean Fearing, Stephan Pyles, Bradley Ogden, Lydia Shire. Heros!

In the late 70s to early 80's I would watch Great Chefs Great cities and all the brands associated with it. Along with Julia Childs and even The Frugal Gourmet with John Smith. It changes my life and opened up a whole new world to me. I grew up in a Manhattan suburb in Connecticut and we were very poor. these shows hep me shape my future in the food business. My passion for food tv and your commitment to the culinary arts are held in highest regard. I salute your commitment to the culinary arts and to fine programing.
