The back swing is usually different from player to player but the point of contact and the follow through assuming that the players are aiming from the same position to the same spot with the same spin and speed in mind would fairly similar. Think of it as the trajectory of the ball. If you and I tried to shoot an arrow with a bow, we would probably pull the arrow back differently but the trajectory of the arrow would have to be similar to reach the same target from the same shooting spot.

Great request Andy, we will add this to our list of videos to film. and yes you will find yourself mixing the two steps quite a bit as it becomes more natural, your body will automatically pick the soundest step for each shot. Show your legs the options and your brain will take over. Cheers

Switching to a smaller grip takes a bit of adjustments to do. You can always use an overgrip to make your grip stickier. The majority of the pros use overgrips as well. It might help.

The reason why the over the shoulder swing is less common these days is because players play with so much topspin that the majority of the shots are taken on the rise with a windshield wiper follow through. It is all based on the types of styles that you mostly face.
