That's a great idea! I teach drum lessons and the students always struggle with the note names when they play tuned percussion. May have to give this a shot...

Your piano notation for starting with A instead of C is brilliant. I learned piano when I was 9 and I was taught that C was the starting point. But once you explained your reasoning, it didn't take me long to see that this was a more logical way of remembering notation. Excellent advice!
