Anarchy is a Greek word that means "no ruler" (archy=ruler, an=no). Contrary to popular sentiment, an anarchist is NOT a person who wants chaos and destruction.
Anarchy is a peaceful condition in which the state (political government) does not exist and power is largely decentralized. This does not mean that there are no laws. Anarchists simply believe in civil law and private law. To anarchists, the government should not be able to force us to follow their rules. This does NOT mean that people are at risk for murder and theft.
