[WARNING: VERY Long Description]
Note: There is no HD, due to the simple fact that this video is practically 8 minutes long, Lol. Due to time constraints, size restrictions and my computer being a bar of soap with three pencils jammed into the top, I have to render it in 360p. Don't worry, the quality doesn't suffer too dramatically.
Now, onto the description:
Hey guys. Alright, enough with the formalities. HOLY SHIT I FINISHED THIS MONSTAR. Like I said to Gabe yesterday, "the feeling, when you finish, is like you've just waded through liquid sandpaper, and the resulting path when you look back looks like gold."
This was by far the funnest video to edit. The story is a tragedy, and is very difficult to follow if you don't pay extreme attention. Plus, I really suck at incorporating storyline clips with the feel of the lyric clips, in my opinion.
My absolute favourite part is 6:04 - 6:22. I have no idea how I did it, but it just flowed together so well in my opinion.
..:: Storyline ::.. DEGENERATES: The King of East Ardougne banishes his son to roam unbound. The song revolves around Matix explaining the revengeful attitude towards his father, contempt on murdering him. Though Matix is somewhat of a pacifist, his father has no such perspective, and would happily behead his son if he returns to East Ardougne. Thus, the only way to return to the land he loves, is to kill his corrupt father.
Upon the journeys of the wilderness of Kandarin, Matix befriends a girl, Elena. The two have similar outlooks on life, and thus, a strong bond is formed between the two. Eventually best friends, Matix starts to believe that he doesn't need East Ardougne to be truly happy.
It is soon apparent between both Elena and Matix that they're practically a mirror of each other. Doing the stupidest things together, sharing the funniest of moments, they have a great time acknowledging the fact that they're both peaceful- non-fighters, a calm, systematic nature- neither of them would hurt a fly. It is soon agreed that they will remain the greatest of friends, forever and always.
Always.
Feeling confident in his new friend, Matix persists on returning to East Ardougne- just for one last time. Telling Elena to wait beside the wall, Matix heads into the castle for a brief moment. Minutes pass, and no sign of life is evident in the streets around the castle. Elena rests, glancing up at the peak of the castle every so often. Suddenly, Matix is seen running towards Elena, showing her a skull. "I did it!" he says in short celebration. Elena is skeptical of what had happened, but realises the skull belongs to the King. Matix had done it.
Running off along the wall and out into the open, Elena tries any desperate attempt to escape this monster. He was no friend of hers. Matix is close in chase, but soon loses her among the trees of the forest, left calling her name in isolation.
She's gone.
HOLDING ON: As the song starts off, Matix is recounting the memory of Elena running off into the woods; "There goes the sun!", provoking the thought that she's the light of his life. Although best friends at one point, Matix starts to see the signs of... dare he say it, 'love'.
For the first part of the introduction of the song, the film is focused on Elena, running from her troubles. The scarf is what drives Matix to find her, but only to eventually hear what he feared; that she wished she never met him.
Parting ways, Matix cannot give up on her, no matter how hard he tries to forget. I'll let you watch the video for the rest (in case you read descriptions before the video).

It is done! I have been working on this for... shoot I honestly don't know how long but it feels like months and months considering how long it took me on this video. Now you may be thinking... how could it take so long when there are next to no effects? The answer... Ideas... It always has taken me a long time to think of RSMV scene ideas. Knowing I wanted the video to have near no effects I had to focus that much more on ideas and the raw footage.
When I originally started this RSMV I was thinking "I'll record a lot and then edit it all" because at the time I had no idea what static look I wanted the video to be... Dark, bright, glow, black and white, colorful, shaky, etc... So I worked on the video for a couple of days and got the first verse done or so and I rendered the video. After rendering the video I showed it to a few friends, Matixpuls3 and Alchemy510 to be specific. When I showed them what I had of the video, Alchemy came up with the idea of making the whole RSMV near effect-less to "prove that a good video doesn't need effects" as he said. I thought about it, matix agreed with him. So I stuck to the idea! I started focusing more on transitions and pan/crop to keep the video interesting, and overall I'm very happy with how the whole video turned out!
Effects used in the video, what they were used for, and how often approx: Gaussian Blur - transitions - many Tv simulator - transitions - 2 min & max - transitions - 5 Chroma Keyer - green screen - many NewBlue Earthquake - screen shaking - 2 Mask Generator - something? o_O - 3 Cookie Cutter - transitions - 2
Thanks to Matixpuls3 for help on how to make the watermark look like it does in this video!
Thanks to Alchemy510 for the idea to keep the video near effect-less!
