In September 2007, British Airways announced it's intentions to purchase A380 jets from Airbus. In July 2013, BA took delivery of it's first jet registered G-XLEA.
A few months ago in what could be described as BA's best (& worst!) kept secret, they announced that the A380 would be introduced on their short haul network. No dates were publicly announced, however it soon became apparent that Friday 1st August would be the inaugural service for the A380 in BA's fleet. The chosen flight for BA would be on a number of Frankfurt rotations, replacing regular A32X or B767 flights.
I went along and experienced BA's first A380 flight, along with an intrepid team of FlyerTalker's; BA staff and other aviation fanatics..
A very big thank you to the CSM, the entire flight/cabin crew of G-XLEA and British Airways.
