What makes a person moral: heredity beliefs, epiphanies, unusual circumstances, or moments of fear or pain; on the other hand, what makes a person immoral? Some questions you might ask yourself:

Am I quick to label people?
Do I belong to private clubs or groups that exclude people?
Do I go out of my way to know people who are different?
How diverse is my circle of friends?
How diverse is my holiday card list?
In what areas of my life do I feel pressure to make the absolute best decision?
What role does morality play in my self-esteem?
What would I do for money?
What wouldn't I do for money?
To what do I attribute my success and failure?

The problem of morality has been in existence since time immemorial. In the scripture, it is embodied by Adam and Eve, who lost their place in Paradise when they stood before the Tree of Knowledge and were compelled to decide whether to obey God's order to ignore the difference between good and evil. The Dead Sea Scrolls tell us of the wars waged between the Children of Light and the Children of Darkness. In ancient times, there were people who believed that gods in the heavens ruled the world: the god of good and the god of evil. In Dostoevsky's view, people do not choose between good and evil because they oscillate between them. According to Solzhenitsyn, the borderline between good and evil is located within the human heart. Living by situational values, such as deceit, concealment, duplicity, and the placing of blame, separates people from other people by inspiring short-sighted, selfish, and here-and-now behaviors. Living by sustainable values, such as honesty, transparency, integrity, and shared responsibility, connects people to other people by inspiring behaviors that sustain relationships with people, with communities, with institutions, with societies, and with the environment. In the globalized world of the 21st century, the need to have more people who are living by sustainable values and have the courage to act on them is more important than ever to avoid future crises, stimulate innovation, and encourage human progress.
