Rubik's Solving Robots
Some people like to go fishing in their spare time, or veg out in front of the TV all weekend. ARM Principle Engineer David Gilday prefers to design and create robots made of lego that will solve the Rubik's cube. But not content with that David has also created 'bots that will solve 4 x 4, 5 x 5 and 7 x 7 puzzles, not to mention the Megaminxer puzzle and many others. The latest creation is the CubeStormer two which is a joint project between David and Mike Dobson. Mike built the robot mechanics and will David's software algorithms the CubeStormer holds the official world record for a robot solving the cude. In fact it's faster than the current human world record.
