Minecraft Survival REDUX Ep. 1: NOT IN THIS WORLD
In this restart of the series, I decide not to cheat, I ramble a little about why I decided not to cheat, I build a house, and I fall into a pit.

Arduino Test--Circle and Cross Display
A first little test for the Arduino Uno that came in the mail the other day. The display is one I picked up at a surplus store, the right-hand display is controlled by the other row of pins. -

Linux Beep Test: Madness
A preview of a really, really non-productive project I'm working on. Here's some info about it.

Minecraft Survival Ep. 1: Home Simple Home
Episode 1: In which our hero is dropped unceremoniously into the middle of a new world and constructs a humble abode. Also, tell me what you think of the video! I'm just starting the series, so I... -
I was reading the "news ticker" in the game trailer and enjoyed how H2G2-esque it seemed. I was then pleasantly surprised to hear the H2G2 reference later in the video. I deeply envy you, you're exactly right about the Valve Trip being a pilgrimage. Hope I can make it someday.
Ian Visits Valve!
Feel free to ask questions and leave comments and I'll try to get back to you.
So I went on a little trip to Seattle to see Valve, THQ, Microsoft, and a few other folks. Valve was my main focus 'c... -

Not sure what you mean by fake DMM tests, but yes, it is essentially made of a lot of tiled func_breakables that are all shaped in a way so that no matter which one breaks, the border is always jagged from surrounding pieces. The tiling/overlapping bit accounts for why the shadows are funky at times, and because it's tiled, more pieces are needed to be more realistic. Therefore, it's a real pain to deal with in Hammer.
More Realistically Breaking Wall
I was bored the other day, and since this idea had been running around in my head for a bit I thought I'd put it down in Hammer. Basically it's a method of creating a (somewhat) more realistically... -

Blue Portals: Turret Demo
Work in Progress. I'm not only working on Portal 2 stuff you know. -

In any case, I'm still working on the portals (AS I SAID IN THE DESCRIPTION). I'm trying to find a good middle ground between the portals above and my earlier versions. And yes, I'm more or less working on P:SI alone with a few minor contributions from other developers.
And hey! Just because something looks like it's from the "hippie age" means it isn't awesome?

New P:SI Portals Test
This is a video demonstrating some new portals I'm trying out for Portal: Stay Inside. They are modified versions of the Portal: Project-Beta portals; HUGE thanks to the entire PB team--especially... -

Pneumatic Diversity Vent Test
This is a map testing the mechanic I developed to implement the Pneumatic Diversity Vent ("objects...are identified, but never judged!") seen in Portal 2 previews. It's still the slightest bit bug... -

No, it's my own model--and in fact, it's not even a model. It's brush work that I built while trying to replicate the images in Gameinformer's Portal 2 article.
Aerial Faith Plate Demo
This is a short video demonstrating two things: my version of the Aerial Faith Plate mechanic from Portal 2 and the set of Portal 2-ish textures that I've made. Both will most likely show up in Po... -
Love it. Especially the cubemap use for the mirrors.
Blue Portals: Portaling Light
Early room, early build, subject to change. But this is where most of my time and energy has been going into lately. -

Yeah, I know. I'm still fine tuning it, trying to turn down the volume so that the sounds don't overlap and drown everything else out. Maybe making them lower sounds will help.
P:SI Testchamber 03 Preview
This is a preview of Portal: Stay Inside testchamber 03. This is, obviously, not the final version of the chamber, but it's a pretty good representation of what it will look like. I will be addin... -
Nice. I like the trick with the computer housing and the door!
Chamber 18 in 13 Portals
Completing chamber 18 of Portal with 13 portals. I have a much simpler video of how to do this in 14 (which is still enough to get a gold medal, and also works on the advanced version). Look at tha...
