Crysis Warhead
Take on the fight as the volatile Sergeant Psycho Sykes in a new parallel story taking place during the events of Crysis. Psychos secret mission will take him to the other side of the island on a ruthless pursuit of a North Korean general hell-bent on obtaining powerful technology. With the versatile powers of his Nanosuit and an arsenal of fully customizable weapons & vehicles at his disposal, Sykes will do whatever it takes to carry out his top-secret objective.
Action on the other side of the island is more intense, the battles are fierce, and the mission protocol is no longer Adapt to Survive. As Sergeant Sykes, now you must adapt to dominate the battle. Twin SMGs blazing, seizing new vehicles, or going stealth, the action and the victory is on your terms.
Quake 4
The Quake legend grows with the fourth release of this storied shooter. Victory is the only option in an epic invasion of a barbaric planet. But in order to defeat the Strogg, you have to become one of them. Begin the game as an elite marine. After you're captured, re-enter the fray as a "Stroggified" marine with enhanced capabilities. Fight in small-squad missions and in full-scale blitzkriegs that rage across indoor and outdoor battlegrounds. You've got the most advanced weaponry possible with plenty of available modifications, and futuristic vehicles including mechanized walkers and hover tanks. Arena-style multiplayer allows play as Strogg or marine in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture-the-Flag Modes.
Lego Batman NDS
The Dark Knight (or Caped Crusader, depending on your Bat-era) is back! It's not the Batman game you might have expected in the same year as Chris Nolan's grim 'n' gritty (and massively successful) film, but it should have more than enough to give fans of running around dressed like a flying rat their fill. The game puts players in the plastic cowl of the Dark Knight and sets him about recapturing a bunch of crazies, including The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Two Face, Bane, Clayface, Poison Ivy ... the list goes on. See, these pesky crazies have gone and escaped from Arkham Asylum, and you don't get put in there for being nice. It'll all be done against the backdrop of a Gotham City built of... well, it's not Meccano. LEGO Batman features heaps of vehicles to drive around, such as the Batwing, Batboat and the Batmobile. It also offers two player co-op, enabling a friend to jump in as the Boy Wonder. If the prospect of playing as the heroes doesn't do it for you, fear not! The game also includes levels that you'll play as Batman's nefarious nemeses.
Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway
If there's one thing the last few years have brought us, it's piles and piles of World War II shooters. Into the fray marches Ubisoft and Gearbox's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Can this effort stand out from the crowd... Well, this squad-based shooter has two things that make it different. The first is the military direction provided by Gearbox Software's Colonel John Antal - a retired U.S. Army heavyweight whose influence has become a defining force behind the project. The other is the focus on realistic tactics, which must be mastered to achieve objectives. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway also stands out with its storyline, which is set against the backdrop of an Allied defeat rather than the glory of D-Day or the Russian front. The Arnhem engagement (Operation Market Garden) of September 1944 was an Allied military disaster that resulted in thousands of men being killed or captured. It is during this, the largest airborne invasion in history, that you assume the role of Sgt Matt Baker, a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. The gameplay revolves around leading a squad into battle, issuing them with basic commands to run, suppress and engage enemy troops while attempting to dodge a hail of unfriendly fire. Your soldiers are moved via a simple interface not dissimilar to that used in THQ's Full Spectrum Warrior, although Brothers in Arms is far less ponderous and more intense than its strategy-heavy cousin, and you have the added pressure of keeping yourself alive in battle. This wouldn't be a shooter, of course, without a multi-player component. Hell's Highway has that, with the squad-based gameplay promising to keep things interesting. Despite WWII fatigue, the cream rises to the surface and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway looks a sound contender with an emphasis on tactics rather than suicidal first-person action. It is also backed up by a firm grounding in history and decent research. Onwards, to victory!
