About Me:

I am the Unknown Cook.

My list of favorite foods range from toasted Spam and peanut butter sandwiches to Cassoulet. American street food, Eastern European, and Mediterranean cooking are big on the Unknown Cook's list .

The Unknown Cook believes more respect should be given to the home cooks of the world. Most of those "celebrity chefs" should be given an ass whooping. The Food Network was once a great idea, but now has about as much relevance as MTV.

My only "training" was working in an Italian restaurant for awhile when I was young, were I was a line cook and cleaned a ton of squid. I also had A VERY SHORT stint working in the most tasteless of all fast food chains known by some as "the golden arches."

Here is a small listing of places that I have come to love (alas, a couple have closed):

Diamonds Trenton, NJ
Spadaccia's Deli Elmsford, NY
Front Street Grille Beaufort, NC
Pat's King of Steaks South Philly
Umbertos NYC (yeah, it's a tourist joint but the scungilli salad and scungilli main course kicks ass.)
Big Oak Drive-In Salter Path, NC
Sparks Steakhouse NYC
Vinnie's Steakhouse Raleigh, NC
Cusine of Pakistan NYC (just don't try to get served when they are on their prayer rugs)
Venuti's Delicatessen Elmsford, NY
Snoopys Raleigh, NC
Char Grill Raleigh, NC
The Lobster Tail Green Harbor, MA
2nd City Grill Raleigh, NC
Skylight Diner NYC
Shutters NYC (I mostly just went there to get drunk...it was right in front of my apartment building)
Geno's Steaks South Philly
Tony Lukes South Philly
Haddad's Ocean Cafe Green Harbor, MA
Neomonde Raleigh, NC
The Fifth Quarter Steakhouse Charleston, WV (mainly I like this place cause they serve ice cold beer in mugs that are 40 oz)
Old Plant Diner Trenton, NC
Mami Nora's Rotissorie Raleigh, NC
The Roast Grill Raleigh, NC
Golden Chicken and Ribs NYC
EL's Drive-In Morehead City, NC

....and all the many little Greek diners, Italian, and Mediterranean restaurants I ate at on the road.

God bless all the mom and pop joints in the south and southwest. Too many to name, but that is were some damn good food is made.

May the Saints protect all the street and carnival food vendors, and keep their food safe. That stuff kicks ass.

Almost 99.99999% of commercial food chains are crap. Don't give them your business.

The purpose of this channel is to show food that I like to cook, and gather other videos that I think might be of interest to other unknown cooks.

by the by in my exuberance of making the humus I forgot that I also put a good table spoon of tahini (smashed sesami seed oil) that you must have used in mediteranean cooking before... and I chop red pepers and black olives and garnish the top of bowl too... lol.
