Michiel Waterman, artist and musician, from the Lowlands in Holland explores the borders of consciousness. Born in an arch on the water (6-2-1962), raised up in Zealand and living in Rotterdam. I still feel related to my Dutch ancestors: the adventurous pirates who explored the seven seas. On my quest to explore the boundaries of human consciousness I search for integrating the mysteries of physics, language, sound, vision and the energy of love. To me Waterman symbolizes fluency, the different stages of constitution and the New Age of Aquarius! Androgynous: 100% Yin and Yang!
C R E A T I O N
I started to study human behavior: how people dress, communicate and design their lives. The design of the outside world led me into a study of the inner world - from the known into the unknown. I love the freedom of pioneering as artist and musician: writing, drawing, painting, styling, filming and making music - the art of creation!
S P I R I L I V E & Z E N
Martial arts (Aikido, Judo & Karate), Healing Tao, Reiki (Master), Transcendental & Merkaba meditation, Awakening your Light body, Alchemy and Sound Healing (Jonathan Goldman/USA) showed me the unlimited potential and power of our higher consciousness. I started Spirilive in 2003, made a CD and television serial Inner Growth Potential and Quality of Life. A coaching program based on the development of chakras inspired 80 people to change their lives radically. I wrote a book KaiZenDao and made 26 items of ZEN TV for Rotterdam TV. Silence and the four seasons of Mother Nature are my teachers - simplicity and natural beauty!

From 2004 until 2008 I focused on the empowerment of minorities: immigrants, unemployed people and kids from the streets - the most colorful people you can imagine. I've directed 100 hours of Urban Culture Television for Rotterdam TV: Urban Art, Fashion, Food, Dance, Music and Poetry. I organized media workshops for at least 1000 children, students and immigrants: writing scripts, drawing story boards, acting, performing, filming and making clips. Directing is all about moving people and motion pictures - fluency, the basic quality of water!
M U S I C I A N
Since 2008 I am fulltime musician: my greatest passion since I started playing guitar at the age of 14, inspired by the lyrics from Bob Dylan, the amazing guitar sound and performance from Jimi Hendrix and the Flower Power movement of Love and Peace in the seventies. Practice combined with performance makes perfect and that is why I perform every day! My hero is Tommy Emmanuel, who travels the whole world and performs 300 times a year! That's the spirit! I play music with 90 mentally disabled people at Ipse de Bruggen in 12 different Smarties Bands & with 70 people at the Delta Psychiatric Centre in the Flower Power Band & perform in the weekends with my acoustic guitar & mouth harp in the centre of Rotterdam. I love change and the vibe of live performances. Music enables me to cross every border, express every thought & feeling and touch everyone's heart & soul.
