Popular anime is usually translated within 6 hours after release of RAW by fansubs. However, its not realeased immedietly because the translators takes pride in their work, so they try to make the codec of the video as high as possible, which is usually mkv format.
Why? Because once its released, anime streaming sites and other 3rd parties will compete to see who can upload it first to their site without much caring about the quality, so the quality of the anime drops significantly.
Most anime streaming sites lower the quality to 60%-75% to make it legible enough to be seen and not be annoyed.
I take my time to break down the audio, visual and subtitles, then convert them into compatible with streaming, then re-combine them to maintain 90% of the original quality. This takes about 40-50minutes for each episode parts of 6-8 minutes.
