Shadow of the Reign was conceived as an experimental heavy metal recording project by vocalist and producer J. Kasperowicz in 2004. In 2005 Kasperowicz united with now best friend and guitar player Jason Artz. The two recorded their first demos, "Do the World a Favor" and "The Bush Effect" and established Shadow of the Reign as a band. The Demos were well received and the two continued writing and recording. The result was an album called "What Do You Think it Means?" which, in the pairs view, never seemed complete. In 2008, after Kasperowicz ended his marriage of 5 years to an abusive and neglectful drug addict, he assumed full custody of his three children. Shadow of the Reign decided to take a break and Kasperowicz joined the Army. Shortly after Kasperowicz returned home from his military training in 2010 Shadow of the Reign began recording the album "A Glimpse of Betrayal". . The album was finally released in October 2012.
