any ideas on how to work out a 10 yr old who has just started playing goalie ? My son recently made the switch from forward to goalie, and i have never played that position and would like some suggestions on how to make his play better

Maria, I'm struggling with some aspects of my game, and I'm hoping you could help.

- My arms get tired after a while and I can't shoot straight anymore, is there something I can be doing off the ice that can help me improve my upper body endurance.

- I'm extremely fast on the crossovers but I'm always gliding on crossovers, how should I go about increacing my leg strength where it counts for the turns? (I don't have a problem with agility, even at full speed I can turn on a dime but I want to be able to do crossovers at full speed?

- Also, when I do crossovers, I'm noticing that I've got a shorter stride, how can I improve my flexibility to increase the ammount of power and the length of my stride on the crossovers?

- I want to get up to a 170+ weight range. I'm 5'7," 140. how should I train to get there? Thank you so much!!! -Bryan

TheHumanoidi - I think if you are stretching once per day - everyday that is a great place to start. If there are some areas that need more work, then I might target them twice per day. You English was great - good question. Check out this video for some ideas about stretching - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRw8_9MkEfU
Cheers,
Maria

You must get good at one of two things; planting in the spring or begging in the fall. Keep planting them seeds BABY!

Much love,
Justin

Maria these workouts are awesome! My workouts had been pretty sparadic because i never really saw how they related to my on ice technique (i'm a goalie btw), but yours is the first site i've seen that really addresses off ice workouts for goalies in a way that is going to be immediately noticeable on the ice. thanks again for providing these!

http://hockeytrainingpro.com/wordpress/2010/02/should-goalies-stretch-daily/ - try this url - it just worked for me. Otherwise just look for the blog post entitled "should hockey goalies stretch everyday" - I think I posted it in April 2010 sometime - over at http://www.hockeytrainingpro.com
