No adult should be punished for making the entirely rational choice to use marijuana instead of alcohol. And yet, last year, 60,000 people were arr...   more

I've attended hundreds of meetings in several states, over many years; AA is AA. A brand like McDonalds, not much variation from one to the next and all based on the Big Book. Don't give me this "Not quite sure what "AA" you followed".

Statistics are not opinions, claiming they are tells a lot about you.

I work in mental health, primarily with those who have coexisting substance abuse problems. AA is even less effective with the dually diagnosed than it is with the general public; we employ evidence-based practices. AA doesn't measure up.

Not really defending anyone. Not quite sure what "AA" you followed. But most of us feel the need to share views on something we really don't have experience with. Going to the rooms in and of itself is not affective for the 5%. Most of us who find the need to downgrade "AA" usually do so from a place of never completely finishing the restitution step - they just won't do it. Those who completely get current with they're life see things from a completely different view. No longer "AA" and "Not AA" everything is one. But that is that 5% you mentioned. All the tests in the world are just that - tests... oppinions. Each individual needs to find they're own experience in whatever path they choose. Your findings are your own, never can or will be [the] answer. Sorry.

I glad that you are clean. I said recover, to be restored ,to a new condition ,like new. There is a difference between the two. After 20 years in the rooms maybe you never heard that.

Been clean from drugs since the 90s, last drink 8/4/01. Think because I'm 12step-critical I can't be clean & sober?

You're just another zealot.

Amen rockyroad this guy is any other poor soul that couldn't get out of his way to recovery

I see someone has felt it appropriate to leave a passage from that vile POS chapter "We Agnostics" from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, an organization based on bad theology and lies.

He must have read that I hate it, so he's being all so clever.

In our personal stories you will find a wide variation in the way each teller approaches and conceives of the Power which is greater than himself. Whether we agree with a particular approach or conception seems to make little difference. Experience has taught us that these are matters about which, for our purpose, we need not be worried. They are questions for each individual to settle for himself.
