Hi- I'm Phil. I started learning the guitar when I was 13. My brother and I made our first electric guitar and even wound our own pickups, then played through a "Tripeltone" 4 watt amplifier. (Just about hear it ! LOL ) Back in the early '60s The Shadows were really popular and I , like loads of other guitarists were mad keen to learn their songs. I was a big Bruce Welch fan and loved playing rhythm so I leant the rhythm to all their songs. I joined several Rock Bands in the 60's 70's and early 80's then had a gap with bringing up children until the early '90's when I re-discovered the Shadows and especially liked the style Hank Marvin had developed -. I joined a Shadows tribute band "Bungleflint" and played rhythm from 2003 - 2008. I love playing the acoustic as well as electrics and found that Hank's style was just right for me. I have 3 sons age 32-28 at the time of writing - they all play guitar, but the Middle one Andrew did a music degree at Exeter university. He can play Piano, Keyboards, Guitar , Bass, Drums, Sax - His musical interests have lead him into teaching music technology (Cubase etc ) at Stroud College Gloucestershire, and I am very lucky that he makes the Backing tracks to the songs I want to play.
