== Short drum cover philosophy note ==
My goal is to play these covers as close to the original as I can. Anyone can play whatever they want over whatever song, which is great, and I also do this; but it takes you out of your comfort zone if you force yourself to learn other peoples fills and beats that you may not have been comfortable with otherwise - which in turn adds to your own style and repertoire. If you spot an obvious mistake from me, chances are above high that I am well aware of it and hate it. Haha!
++Random info and comments++
I started recording drum covers in late 2008 when I had to quit my band. Being a senior in college was just too demanding. I begin my masters degree in Fall 2009 and will be very busy again, but should be able to post covers at least once a month. Hopefully more.
I have played now for about 13 years with a few long breaks due to military service and other things. But no matter where I was, I always thought about drums, played them in my head, tapped on things or played practice pads. I have some formal training. I have taken lessons and was at one point getting a minor in music. It was too hard to do that and engineering though.
I did not start this page expecting subscribers, but it sure is neat! I just want to thank you guys for all your kind words and questions! I love hearing whatever you've got to say. Questions, requests, comments, whatever.
I'm 6'2inches - pretty big for a drummer. I like to keep my kit centered and low like Glenn Kotche or Benny Greb for efficiency and ease of movement. Camera angle sometimes makes me look even bigger! So if you think my snare looks too low or I'm dwarfing my kit, it most likely is due to the camera angle. My snare is always the same height - just below my throne so that I'm slightly over it. Also an energy efficiency setup.
