I love talking drums, percussion, music, music philosophy, whatever! So please don't hesitate to ask, comment or request. I read all of my comments and most of the time look at my commenter's page. =) Thank you very much for watching and telling me what you think (good or bad)!

~~~~~~~~~~== SPECS ==~~~~~~~~~~~~
== Drums ==~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--Gretsch Maple Renown - Blue Burst--
(Bad camera, and low light makes it look black. But it's beautiful!)
Bass Drum - 20x22
Rack tom - 9x12
Floor tom - 14x14
Floor tom - 16x16
Snare drums: rotate.
I have several: 3 Gretsch, 2 - 6 deep, 1 - 5.5 deep, and a DW Craviato - Cherry (one solid piece of wood) 5 inches deep
== Cymbals ==~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-- Zildjian --
14inch; - K Sweet Hats
18inch; - K Special Dark Custom
20inch; - K Special Dark Custom Ride
21inch; - K Special Dark Custom Dry Ride
18inch; - HHX Sabian O-zone or
random cymbal stack - a-la Jon Theodore
(I have other cymbals but these are my favorite and what I tend to use most. I own many Sabian AAX's, another line of Zildjian Medium K's and one paiste 502 China.)
== Heads ==~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--All Evans except Snare sometimes--
Toms - Coated Evans G2's on tops, Coated G1's on bottom
Snares - Remo Ambassadors on top, Evans Hazy side bottom
Bass Drum - E-mad, batter and resonant side.
== Sticks ===~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-- Vic Firth always --
Terry Bozzio - primary stick
Kenny Aronoff - secondary, for louder / slower
Stanton Moore - lighter and faster / jazz
Pro Mark - Hot Rods - quiet, textures
(All the sticks I use are longer than average models because I'm taller and need the extra length.)
== All Other Gear ===~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hardware - all DW 9000 (heavy duty)
Throne - Roc N Soc (so comfortable)
Headphones - Shure E2C's with an iPod
NO Mics - I don't own any - YET!
== INFLUENCES ==~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Radiohead, GLENN KOTCHE, The Beatles, John Bonham, Thom Yorke, Phil Selway, Johnny Greenwood, Ringo Starr, Jon Theodore & Blake Flemming, Brian Chase, Abe Cunningham, Sufjan Stevens, Ronnie Vannucci, Benny Greb, Stanton Moore.
== Short drum cover philosophy note ==
My goal is to play these covers as close to the original as I can. Anyone can play whatever they want over whatever song, which is great, and I also do this; but it takes you out of your comfort zone if you force yourself to learn other peoples fills and beats that you may not have been comfortable with otherwise - which in turn adds to your own style and repertoire. If you spot an obvious mistake from me, chances are above high that I am well aware of it and hate it. Haha!
++Random info and comments++
I started recording drum covers in late 2008 when I had to quit my band. Being a senior in college was just too demanding. I begin my masters degree in Fall 2009 and will be very busy again, but should be able to post covers at least once a month. Hopefully more.
I have played now for about 13 years with a few long breaks due to military service and other things. But no matter where I was, I always thought about drums, played them in my head, tapped on things or played practice pads. I have some formal training. I have taken lessons and was at one point getting a minor in music. It was too hard to do that and engineering though.
I did not start this page expecting subscribers, but it sure is neat! I just want to thank you guys for all your kind words and questions! I love hearing whatever you've got to say. Questions, requests, comments, whatever.
I'm 6'2inches - pretty big for a drummer. I like to keep my kit centered and low like Glenn Kotche or Benny Greb for efficiency and ease of movement. Camera angle sometimes makes me look even bigger! So if you think my snare looks too low or I'm dwarfing my kit, it most likely is due to the camera angle. My snare is always the same height - just below my throne so that I'm slightly over it. Also an energy efficiency setup.
I think you are a great drummer and entertaining to watch. I don't particularly like Muse but Mew is my favorite band. I would love to see more Mew covers. Thank you.
